Post OPML to WordPress

This plugin allows you to publish the contents of an OPML file in any WordPress post or page. Just put the URL of the file (it must be public on the internet) in between the quotes using this shortcode:

[opml url=""]

If your OPML file is hosted on Dropbox, please paste the shareable URL into a browser and copy the new URL that you see in the address bar. For example, don’t use https://dl.dropbox.com/s/i0ng86knpe2tis7/wptest.opml but rather https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/i0ng86knpe2tis7/wptest.opml.

This plugin supports the url and icon attributes from Fargo. Install the FontAwesome plugin to your self-hosted WordPress blog to support the icon feature.

I have posted an example here of the url and icon permutations.

UPDATE (2014.07.02)

Version 2 of this plugin supports the relatively-new type=”idea” link blog developed by Dave Winer. Compare my Fargo link blog to the OPML2WP rendering on my home page.

The plugin includes a few personal customizations which require that you add FontAwesome 4 as a style sheet to your WordPress blog. I just add

<link href="//netdna.bootstrapcdn.com/font-awesome/4.0.0/css/font-awesome.css" rel="stylesheet">

to the wp_head().

|comment|

Add this directly after the link, and will appear on the next line. Then add your comment.

It should look something like this in Fargo:

This is [a link].|comment|Here is my comment.

UPDATE (2014.07.23)

Plugin now supports emoji. You need to use the Emoji Cheat Sheet and you must install the Emoji Emoticons WordPress plugin.

Customization

On this blog, I have changed the css to remove all bullets:

ul li { list-style-type: none; }

This plugin is based on a PHP script written by Betsy Kimak.

Download the plugin here. Then upload the zipped file via the upload feature in WordPress (YOURDOMAIN.COM/wp-admin/plugin-install.php?tab=upload).
