I’ve been listening to Weird Al’s latest release, Alpocalypse. He’s not only a great humorist, but also an excellent original pop songwriter. I think his lyrical sensibility can be attributed to the exact square between his Mercury in Scorpio and Uranus in Leo. (View his chart at AstroDataBank.) Uranus provides an innovative, “outside the box” approach to his thinking, enabling him to write witty lyrics that are often so different from a song that he is parodying that a listener can only react with wonder. In addition, Uranus gives him an outsider’s perspective that makes him an astute social critic—which is to say that he makes funny observations about popular culture. And maybe this is a stretch, but his Mercury’s placement in Scorpio could account for the predominance of poop jokes (and the breaking of societal taboos) in his songs.
As a musician, one can look to his Sun’s conjunction to Neptune, the planet that helps us to express the ineffable via artistic expression. His Venus-Pluto conjunction in Virgo probably makes him a perfectionist, viewing his art as a craft that can always be improved upon. And although AstroDataBank states that his provided birth time is “dirty data” (DD), it gives him Saturn conjunct Ascendant, signaling that he is an extremely hard worker. Weird Al is just about the only successful music humorist today, and the longevity of his career is a testament to the fact that he’s very serious about his career.

Great observations, thanks Jeffrey. It’s funny how Pluto transiting Al’s Saturn on Asc. probably inspired the title of his latest : Alpocalypse. His Saturn is so well aspected, Does it makes sense that there is something weird in his appearance, and that he needs glasses. I would seriously reconsider his birth-time.
