I’m tired of content management systems being too complicated or letting me down. Right now I’m trying StackEdit, which isn’t even a CMS. It’s basically an online markdown editor that stores all files in the browser’s memory (HTML5 localStorage).
StackEdit has many publishing features, but the one that stood out was via SSH. So I can write a post in markdown, and upload it to my server using a predefined HTML template.
I can’t say this is an easy alternative to blogging. Essentially I’m just uploading static HTML files, so there’s no dynamically generated RSS feed or reverse-chronological list of articles. But it is uncomplicated and I’m not reliant on some service that will go down or change their terms of service with no or little warning.
