Gemini New Moon opposite Pluto in Sagittarius - June 14, 2007

For some, the thrill of reading TMZ.com and gossip rags is that they expose celebs' secrets and public gaffes: drunk driving, cocaine abuse, racist comments. Seeing the underbelly of the carefully controlled image reminds us that even the fabulously wealthy are flawed human beings.

But we have to be careful of how we ingest the news. Our minds crave distraction from the humdrum of our daily lives, yet how often does our media diet contribute depth and substance? Are we, as a collective, over and done with Paris Hilton, as low as she's sunk? Could it be that the press is a tool of the government, trying to control us so that we don't question our nation's destructive foreign policies? Does the Bush administration own TMZ? Are Paris, Britney and Lindsay nothing but pawns of the American Enterprise Institute?

I'm not a conspiracy theorist, I'm just making a point. Gemini can be superficial and gossipy, oblivious to the dangers perpetrated by those in power. Sometimes we get so stuck in absorbing mindless information that we don't pay attention to world affairs.

The Sun and Moon in Gemini opposite Pluto in Sagittarius can by symbolized by the investigative reporter who exposes human rights abuses in Guantanamo Bay, pedophilia in the Church, date rape at universities. Even in the context of celebrity news, the exposure of racism (Mel Gibson, Michael Richards, Don Imus) provides a useful service.

What does this have to do with you?

This New Moon is at 23 Gemini. It is making several aspects:
  • Opposition to Pluto at 27 Sag
  • Exact semisquare (45 degrees ) to Venus at 8 Leo
  • Tight sextile to Mars at 22 Aries
  • Sextile to Saturn at 20 Leo
  • Square to Uranus at 18 Pisces
  • Trine to Neptune at 21 Aquarius
As you can see, the degree areas between 18 and 27 are being highly stimulated, by both hard aspects (Pluto, Uranus, Venus) and soft aspects (Saturn, Neptune, Mars). Mars, Saturn and Pluto are in a Grand Fire Trine. Saturn and Neptune are finishing up their opposition. This New Moon is activating all these configurations.

So if you have any planets or angles around this degree area, something will be up for you. Share your chart in the comments section, and maybe someone can help you out.

Jeffrey, I have more to share, but I just wanted to say quickly--I *hate* TMZ and gossip, and all the hubbub about celebrities.
I feel sorry for them living in a fish bowl, but I also dislike hearing about their every move, and mistake.

I don't read those things, nor look for them and I even rather dislike the news.
More later, because I believe I do have some of those degrees --most of my planets are in later degrees of the signs.:-)

i'm just getting into this astrology stuff, but i was curious as to what the specific positions mentioned could mean for me personally. my sun is in Aries, my moon in Pieces and my rising in Gemini. Any suggestions?

Annie, Your Moon is in pieces? I'm sorry to hear that. Without knowing the exact degrees of these planets, I can tell you that the Gemini New Moon is hovering around your Ascendant (new beginnings with regards to image, outlook). If it's falling in your 12th house, then the new beginnings concern themes such as seclusion, imagination, mysticism.

That New Moon conjuncts my natal Mars and Mercury in 2nd house, opposes Neptune in 8th, trines Pluto in 6th...

Maybe there's more...

exclusion.blue, It looks like this lunation is mostly stimulating your Mars-Neptune opposition. This falls in your money houses (2/8), so I imagination themes about action (Mars) and sacrifice or loss (Neptune) having to do with resources will be up for you.

Jeffrey, good morning to you.
I have Jupiter in Gemini 26 degrees in my 5th house.
My Jupiter trines my Sun in Libra 29 degrees,(9th HSE) and my Neptune in Libra 23 degrees( end of 8th HSE).
This moon also squares my Mars in Virgo exactly at 23 degrees, (8th HSE).
It sextiles my Pluto at 24 degrees in Leo in my 7th HSE.
What do you think?
How can I best work with this New Moon's energies?

Thanks for the information! I have Mars 18 Pisces in the 9th house; Saturn 18 Capricorn in the 6/7th house; Venus 21 Aries in the 10th house; Ascendent 19 Cancer.
I don't have planets there, but Gemini is in my 12th house.

I'm already feeling the Mercury Retrograde...Anyone else?

I have my moon at 28 Sag, with Pluto conjunct it right now. Ascendant at 19 Pisces (opposed Saturn at 13 Virgo). And that's just the beginning. Any ideas? Pluto's been attacking my stellium (sun/neptune/midheaven/mars/merc in sag) since '95 (When I was 17) and now is almost finally finished with me, but I still don't know what to expect.

The new moon is in my fifth house and triggering my ascendant 23 Capricorn, my Jupiter in 18 Aries (3rd), my Saturn in Aquarius (1st), my Mars in 19 Libra (9th). I'm still trying to figure all this out! Hopefully nothing too aggravating.

I guess I'm confused because he has always been oa bit anal, lOL. Even as a young child if the scatter rug was messed up he'd say "Who did, did that"? So it's hard for me to believe that he'd be in trouble. But the morning of the 15th I kind of knew when I saw he hadn't come home last night.

It's a terrifying ordeal for a mother, or father I suppose. My broken haert is on the mend as I try to busy myself and tell myself its not my problem.

Can somebody please respond???

Anonymous, It sounds like you believe the New Moon has something to do with your son's DWI? I haven't looked at his chart. He's an adult, so although you can provide support, it's not your problem. Of course, it's not so easy for a parent to separate from their children. But he's made his decisions, no?

Thanks Jeffrey!!!
Yes he sure has made his choices & most parent's would be there for they're kid (esp. those of us who grew up in the 60's & 70's & did alot of stupid things too) Of coure he doesn't learn from it and it keeps happening, then it's time to kick him out.

Thanks Jeffrey....yes I suppose I do feel the new moon had something to do with my son's getting into trouble. It happened at 2am (ish)Many parents who up in the 60 & 70's and did alot of stupid stuff too, would be there to support they're grown kid....however if he keeps repeating this crap, he can fend for himself and suffer the consequences. Hopefully he learned from this. I did tell him that for the 1st time he made me feel ashamed of him also how much it hurt and exhausted me. BY the look on his hung head I know that he didn't take that well!! I usually brag about my son so this is fodder for the gossips in the area around here.

Guess what? I think EVERY time the media makes a big hoopla over a news story about a celeb it's to distract us from real events that are going on. You will find the real news buried in the back pages if u find it at all. Sounds paranoid, but if you check back you will see that something major was going on in the world every single time and it got bumped for celebrity bashing, hashing and rehashing.I think it's the same reason we all end up having to work more than one job and are encouraged to have lots and lots of activities, if we have time to think, we will see what's really going on. Of course if you ask me, I never said that!

I am a saggittarius involved online with someone who's birthday is today. any comment? Also re: new moon- I know something is up because there was a big shakeup at one of the chats I go to involving minors getting access to adult activities in chat. Without being any more specific, I can say that many people were affected.

Its not only celebs that people like to gossip about. Many around here love to gossip about me. I cannot count the times I've come face to face with idiots I don't know, but who think they know me. I wonder how they know I'm going to be there....

Makes me want to run away.

hehehe. That cracks me up. "Moon in Pieces"...

I have my moon in Pisces so this is amusing to me. It's strangely appropo.

Anyway...I don't mean to be contrary, but I think that everyone gossips to SOME extent--but they may not immediately recognize it as gossip.

Some people gossip about events, politics, some people, pets. True, the most insidious and stressfull forms of gossip are what I'd refer to as 'catty gossip'. So I guess if I were to commend, I'd amend that i don't mind garden-variety gossip, as long as it's tempered with the understanding that people do and say things from a different perspective than we do--and sometimes we can't help but be fascinated.

So what bothers me most is getting off on someone else's pain:

Schadenfreude is a German word meaning 'pleasure taken from someone else's misfortune'.

That's probably my pet peeve.

Aphrodite...I go to the same chat...they recently took away anything phallic and turned it pg-13, right? Changed the ratings on lots of things? Basically de-sexed the men (why do they see the penis as being so evil?). Almost sounds like Hera is mad at Zeus all over again! But that's how Aphrodite was born in some of the old mythology. And yes it was because too many minors were getting into adult situations, shall we say.
The responsible adult community prefers seperate chat for adults and family so minors have less chance to be exposed, but instead minors are still rubbing elbows with some very perverse adults. It would help if the adults only setting actually functioned, but since children are very bright and tenacious about what they want they will always find a way to sneak, so it will all be for nothing anyway. Meanwhile there are many angry adults who paid for adult privilege and are not getting it. And they are the ones with the money. Not very wise thinking. What say you Jeffrey? Do the stars have any advice for this chat situation at this time?

I have a problem understanding this "ERROR" in astrology. Everywhere you go, astrology says the planets are in "THIS SIGN" or "THAT SIGN." When you use your own eyes or an astronomy program however the ACTUAL locations of where the REAL planets are are always about one to one and a half "signs" off. This ERROR has been around all my life. No one has ever picked up on it. WHY? I am sure the ancient observers did not say "Oh let's make planet Mars in the next sign because I see it in this sign now." Example: ASTROLOGY says the MOON will enter LIBRA Tuesday October 9th at 01:56 PM. This is of course not correct. The Moon currently as of (now) October the 8th IS and has been in LEO for some time. It is right next to Saturn and Venus. See for yourself. The next sign it will enter is VIRGO. I was just wondering if anybody else ever noticed this?

I don't knwo when you wrote this but here goes....I believe it depends upon where the author was because the moons position or degree's differ around the world. Does that make sense?

According to the NCGR right now as I type this; in Washinton, DC the moon is 15 deg. Virgo.

Gotta go clean my house, LOL.

Most recent Anonymous, Tropical astrology bases the signs on the seasons (equinox, solstice) not on the actual backdrop of the constellations. The latter is Sidereal Astrology. Aries in Western Astrology starts when Spring starts, it has nothing to do with what an astronomer would say about the location of Aries.
