Sagittarius Full Moon conjunct Jupiter - May 31, 2007
Philosophy, the Ivory Tower ... the academy can be pretty dry. Professors in their tweed jackets at the lectern, discoursing on their topic of expertise, can either induce sleep or inspire one to take up a new course of study. One is unlikely to finish a Ph.D. without passion, but expressing it -- so that it becomes contagious -- takes a special talent. I'm sure we've all had at least one teacher who has sparked our quest for knowledge, someone whose course stood out amongst our mostly tedious classes. We study, not just to learn, but to find meaning in the theories that we digest. However arcane the Law (legal, religious), it just "clicks" for some people, and summons them on a path most of us would never take. It may not be apparent from the outside while they spout obtuse jargon, but the fire is inside. But what good is that fire if it does not spread? Sure, personal fulfillment is important, but many spiritual explorers want to share the Word. They have to tap into our emotions to convert us. Logic alone will not do. Facts do not persuade us. We need to be inspired, to feel the call in our bodies. When you listen to a teacher and feel the heat -- that is how you know you have been touched. There is a convergence of mind and spirit, a bell ringing both in our heads and our hearts.
This Full Moon is an especially ripe time to be seduced by the Call. The Moon is in Sagittarius, conjunct Jupiter, the sign's ruler. Jupiter is retrograde, so you may feel drawn to re-evaluate an old philosophy or religious practice that you had previously discarded. Or an old teacher may come back into your life. It is time to be open to that which you had been closed. Let your feelings be your guide, don't reject on the basis of thought. However, don't let yourself get carried away, either. Jupiter expands the Moon, and you can ride on an emotional high, neglecting the fine print because you're so lost in the Big Picture.
The Fine Print: This Full Moon is at 10 Sag. If you have any personal planets or angles around 10 degrees of mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces), this lunation will have a strong impact. In addition, Venus at 25 Cancer is making a stressful 135 degree angle (sesquiquadrate) to the Moon, so planets around this degree in the cardinal signs may also be affected. Your attraction to family traditions may inhibit you from being open to expansive ideas.

Fuck. That is going to happen conjunct my Natal Neptune which is 10 degrees Sag.
The recent Rx in Neptune is already having an effect on me... what would you see for that kind of conjunction between the full moon and natal Neptune?
This makes sense, the full moon will hit my Mars in Sag. I'm torn between what i "should do" vs what i "want to do." Maybe I'll come to an answer.
Venus dances on my Descendant at 7 Pisces. Is that close enough to be touched by the FullMoon and how may this energy play out?
Quentin, knowing the house that tenants your Neptune would help. I'd say the Full Moon would "bring light" to any issues regarding idealism, delusions, mystical yearnings, artistic expression.
Elizabeth, I don't usually see a lunation 3 degrees separating from an aspect to be all that significant. If the Full Moon is in your 4th house, there could be a general conflict between home/family and partnership. Do post here if anything happens. :)
Jeff,
love your work.... this hits my ascendant at sag 13 and i have 8th house vertext at cancer 27...... weird. Spent the whole mornig wondereing if I did the right thing by leaving the Catholic Church 2 years ago...god... I hope that doesn't mean I am going back....LOL
Sorry -- I was too... into not knowing that my mind farted! Seventh house. This is all playing out in the seventh house... and today is our 8th year anniversary.
... I am off to read more about the 7th house. Shorthand is bad -- it's time for me to deepen my discipline.
Jeff, re: what Elizabeth asked and your answer( This full moon in 10 Sag,and whether it impacts her Venus in her 7th HSE in Pisces 7 degrees)
Why would that *not* make much of a difference, as you stated?
For Redsungirl: I have a strong sense that you won't go back to the Catholic church exactly,:-) but you'll be looking at ways to find meaning, and a sense of spirituality that really supports you now.
You might rework some old issues concerning the church and your beliefs, though.
Some things are not truly settled for you[re: your former religious beliefs] and you'll be looking at your feelings vs beliefs, as well considering your true needs spiritually today.
I think some tenets of Catholicism will always be included in your life somehow.
Jeffrey, I just wanted to tell you, I really appreciate this post of yours on passion/fire/meaning in relation to this Full Moon.(and being able to *express* that meaning!)
I read it 2x,actually--I found it very well said, and quite- *meaningful*- in itself. ;-)
Proserpine, I think that a lunation three degrees after a chart point isn't as powerful as before the point.
Ok... how do I find out what this means for me? I am starting to really read my horoscope but this other stuff means nothing to me. Help.... Female,Gemini 5/23/63 at 5am .... Oh and I made a Aquarius man mad I think.. How do I say I am sorry to him?
Thanks for another interesting post that seems quite relevant for the questions I've been pondering the last couple of days (well, years - but more specifically the last couple of days).
Any thoughts on the impact of the full moon on my 12th house Moon at 10 degrees Gemini? I wouldn't have connected my recent thoughts to my Moon (although they have had an emotional aspect), but they have been kind of 6th/12th housy.
Your posts are so spot on! I've Mars conjunct Jupiter at 12 Pisces (& Venus at 7) in 3rd house & in past ten days made big decision to rejoin old Buddhist group (after three years' absence) and finally formally restudy astrology (after 8 years' gap). I had no idea lunations were so potent!
But, since reading your post, I've held off, in case they were spur of the moment lunacies...
Framboise, thanks for your feedback. It's encouraging to hear real life experience validate astrology, as much of the time I'm writing from a theoretical perspective.
This is all very interesting! I love your blog. I'm a big fan of you and Bill Streett. Anyway, My Sun (asc. ruler)/cazimi Mars (MC ruler) is at 11 Gemini. This full Moon in Sag took place in my 5th house...which is occupied by Jupiter/Uranus/Neptune (5th,6th,28th deg. of Sag) My natal Venus is at 26 Cancer 12th house square my 27 Aries MC. So much has come to "fruition" with this full moon! I won't ramble but I can't believe how accurate your post is. For the past two years I have had to put my art on hold. I literally had my first audition in 2 years and it was very successful! (My Part of Fortune is at 23 Aries?) Keep doing what you're doing, you're very gifted.
Jason, Thanks so much! I'm glad to hear that this post has resonated so much with readers, and I hope that you succeed on your artist's path.
