New Moon - 3 Cancer - 6/25/06
Family is Cancer's domain, and family can be both a curse and a blessing. With my Moon in Aquarius, I value my independence and tend to be somewhat detached, despite my Pisces Sun. However, I am a family man, and I navigate these waters on a daily basis. Family, like Cancer itself, can be cozy or suffocating. One can enjoy the warmth of being pressed by bodies in a group hug, or one can feel smothered by too much affection and neediness. This is a human experience -- the push and pull between independence and intimacy.Cancer is the kitchen, eating pecan pie and drinking warm dandelion tea, sitting on the couch with woman and child and stuffed bear, watching children's DVDs. It's not so bad.
This New Moon, Sol and Luna are separating from an opposition to Pluto in Sagittarius, and approaching a trine to Jupiter in Scorpio. Jupiter's expansive, buoyant positivity supports our emotional gardening, planting the seeds of connection to home, family, mother and child. The Scorpio-Cancer connection enhances our immersion into the murky waters of emotional bonding, and the opposition to Pluto further helps us to dredge up any underground family secrets. However, the New Moon is dark -- the waters may be stirred, but the truth will wait for the illumination of a Full Moon.
