Were you alive in '65?

Someone googled "8 december 1965 lunar eclipse" to get to my blog, so I looked it up in the ephemeris. That eclipse was at 15 Sagittarius, the same degree area -- also in a mutable sign (like Pisces) -- as the recent one on September 7, 2006. This was before my time ... but I'd love to hear from the boomers out there who remember how this eclipse impacted them, or if there were any notable world events happening at that time.

The eclipse in '65 also involved Uranus, which at 19 Virgo was square the Full Moon. Additionally, Pluto was at 18 Virgo, and Saturn was at 11 Pisces. Of course, Saturn opposing Uranus-Pluto related to the explosive, anti-authoritarian energy of the Sixties, and the eclipse probably triggered this configuration. But I'm no history buff.

Hi Jeffrey--I was 16 in 1965. My Ascendant is 19 Virgo and my Midheaven is 17 Gemini. I also have Mars at 18 Gemini conjunct the MC and Vesta at 15 Sag in the Gauquelin sector of my 3rd house and conjunct the IC, so I'm strongly affected by these eclipses in the middle degrees of mutable signs. The eclipse you mention most strongly affected my natal Vesta. In late 1965 I was just getting on my feet again having spent most of the previous school year at home with rheumatic fever. Prior to that my family had moved across town, so I had left my childhood friends, schools, and familiar haunts behind. For health reasons I had to reorganize my priorities, leave some activities behind, and take up new interests. I became more academically oriented, more studious, even more introverted and bookish than I had been up until that time. In hindsight, many of these changes and choices influenced the course of my life for years to come. Obviously I was strongly affected by the Uranus-Pluto conjunction throughout that time since it was conjunct my Ascendant, but I would say that the eclipse influence strongly brought out my "Vesta in Sag in the 3rd house" nature, i.e., the introverted, self-contained, student-philosopher archetype, an observer of the world, not always a participant. Additionally, transiting Vesta was also closely conjunct my natal Cancer Sun throughout that time due to retrograde motion. I'll leave the history to others but it was as we all know a tumultuous time. It seems to me that eclipses often point to seminal events, transitions, and culminations that are much more powerful and pivotal in the long term than they seem to be at the time.

Peace-Doreen

Thanks, Doreen.

So I'm curious if you've noticed any impact on your 3rd house Vesta from this recent 15 Pisces eclipse?

I've had a few "surprising" interactions since the eclipse on my 7th house Pisces Sun at 14.55, especially with Uranus involved.

Until you asked, I'd mostly been aware of the effect of the recent Pisces eclipse on my 7th cusp, 19 Pisces, a little personal for a blog comment, but some positive things happening there. But as for 3rd house Vesta at 15 Sag, why yes. I've recently re-connected with my astrology teacher and am resuming my work on her correspondence course now that I've finished massage therapy school. I've been going over my notebooks, completed assignments & what not, planning a strategy for review and picking up where I left off. Exciting because astrology never ceases to thrill me. Solitary study, yet again, which has always had a way of paying off and bearing fruit career-wise. Thanks for asking. This has been interesting. Peace--Doreen

Thanks for being personal. Certainly, readers can learn more about astrology whenever we do appropriately self-disclose.

Been reflecting on the eclipse connection to my natal Vesta some more. After the "busy-ness" of massage therapy school, I graduated in June and spent the summer quietly, mostly alone, and spent a good deal of time reviewing for the national certification exam in massage therapy. I took and passed the exam on September 6, the day before the 15 Pisces lunar eclipse. In fairness, I elected that day because of the strong emphasis in Virgo and was mindful of the eclipse as well. I have natal Mars & Mercury conjunct in Gemini and can go through exams a bit too fast for my own good. I wanted the strong Virgo influence to help me slow down and pay attention to details. Just got my license in the mail today. Since I spent 25 years in the computer field in the corporate world, this is all major life change stuff, connected to much more astrologically than a single eclipse. But clearly the Vesta influence has done her part and your blog post and question has helped me appreciate that. And all the great astrology blogs that I'm finding are helping me get my astrological wheels turning too! Peace--Doreen

I was born on the 10th dec 1965, so I have sun at 18 Sag connecting with everything. It was a traumatic birth. My mum's waters broke on the monday the hospital staff did not beleive her when she got there. I was an emergency delivery on the friday and how we both survived I have no idea, but we did albeit I had norman helmet for a head and didn't get to meet Mum til I was 4 days old. So I was birthed straddling this eclipse. Going througg major life changes at the moment with relationship and career changes so that could be a link to the 2006 Sept eclipse.

I was born in 53, and was 12 in 65.I remember it as a rather stressful depressing time.
My family had moved several miles from where we were living, though in the same city-it was as if I was in a different world.
It was lovely, and small townish, but I disliked it at first.
There was also the blackout that happened around that time--all up and down the eastern seaboard here.
That eclipse would have affected my second house Pisces, and my 8th house Virgo--I do remember many sexual experiences, and later being completely turned around by my father(when he found out)--for a year of so at least.
I worte a lot of sombre poetry, but hid it from everyone.
*This* eclipse is more obvious--I'm dealing with an almost- foreclosure on my home( was my mother's)
and needing to change a *lot* of things I was allowing to hang for a while now.
There ar emany many things that happened in 65 history wise, although I don't rememebr ploitics as much as I do the fact that a lot of tings changed that year--Bob Dylan became very "heard" and rock music really went from being pretty much like the late 50s, to reflecting the part of the 60s, that I loved the most--the spiritual, free loving/living, and psychedelic 60s.(though I had a difficult time with that last one)!
Hope this made some sense, Jeff.:-)
