Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Pisces - September 7, 2006

I watched School of Rock for the fifth time the other day, and realized that it is the quintessential Uranus in Pisces movie. Jack Black plays Dewey Finn, a rocker-slacker who subs as a teacher at a prestigious private elementary school under his roommate's identity, so that he can pay his half of the rent -- only to ditch the curriculum in favor of teaching his students Rock Band. The essence of rock is about "sticking it to the Man" -- a concise summation of the Uranian impulse to subvert the dominant paradigm, to shake up the status quo. Pisces is the sign of the artist, the musician, the poet.

This Full Moon in Pisces conjoins Uranus, highlighting the desire for freedom, independence and re-structuring. However, this is no ordinary Full Moon, it is a Lunar Eclipse. An eclipse occurs when a Full or New Moon is within twelve degrees of the Moon's Nodes -- the points in space where the Moon's orbit intersects with the ecliptic. If a Full Moon at 15 Pisces triggers your chart in some way, then an eclipse at this degree feels significantly more intense and profound. The Nodes relate to karma and connection, so there can be a fated quality to this type of Full Moon.

Look to the house in your chart where this Moon falls. You will feel a need to re-invent that area of your life, to shake up what's been stagnant, to experience a mini-revolution. Remember that with Uranus, the more you resist, the greater the destruction. Better to align yourself with the rabble-rousers than with the authorities. Your ego, after all, is the Man, and Uranus wants to rock your house down!

This eclipse will impact anybody with planets around 15 degrees of mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces) as well as those who were born a few days on either side of March 5 [MY BIRTHDAY!], June 5, September 7, or December 6.

Hi Jeffrey--What orb do you use for eclipses? --Doreen

Good point. Above I'm pretty much talking about exact aspects, but I think this eclipse would impact anyone with planets/angles between 12 and 20 degrees mutable signs. So 5 applying and 3 separating. I'm sure every astrologer has their own rules of thumb. I'd say, if you feel the eclipse, it's in orb. But that's not very predictive, is it?

Hello :)

I have venus in virgo at 18 (10th house) so it would affect it, right?

Also my P. of Fortune (at 22 pisces, 4th house) makes an opposition to venus.

So... my venus - considering your orb - will feel it but not my p. of Fortune? I'm sorry if I'm not making sense, I'm new at "interpretibg" this.

So... how can this be read?
A need to free myself from home issues trough work? (I don't have a job right now and can't seem able to find one that "fits" what I want).

New work relations (venus)?
News at the home front - dealing with parents - , not necessarily pleasent (a completion of somekind)
that will propel me to 10th house issues?

Some insight from you would be great! I'll give you a (virtual) hug, lol: []

Ok, two: []

I feel like my whole year has been building towards Sept. I have 4 planets in Virgo from 11 to 24. Not only will it oppose those planets (even widely) it will be conjunct my transiting Uranus.

I turn 40 in a few weeks and things are movin' and groovin'. It's all good!

Dunyazade,

The eclipse will definite affect your Venus. I don't work with Part of Fortune so I won't comment on that.

I'd say there'll be some confict between your career aspirations (as they relate to beauty or relationships or whatever is symbolized by the houses with Taurus and Libra on the cusp) and home/family issues.

Certainly any full moon is about culmination, about issues "coming to a head," and with transiting Uranus in your 4th house, there may be some unexpected illumination, perhaps a childhood memory, or something revealed about your family.

With Uranus opposing your natal Venus, there could be an exciting or unconventional romance on the horizon, something "public" or with someone in a position of authority.

Venus in Virgo in the 10th -- have you considered nursing or social work?

"Venus in Virgo in the 10th -- have you considered nursing or social work?"

God, Nooooo! No, no, no!!!!!

I'm a writer. I really hate taking care of people, I loose my patiente, I have very litle tolerance - on a daily basis - for the "whining" - but I do seem to atractt people who want a shoulder to cry one.

Social work... how? I mean. I do my own thing. I prefer to do things my way... I mean: anything that may affect others (change them) or society - I prefer to do that trough my writing than to be in an organization of somekind.

But when you say "social work" I immediatly thought of my Pluto and Uranus in 11th (not conjunct).

Maybe I'm a revolutionary who refuses to be one, lolol.

Thank you for the insight.

Howdy Jeffrey (fellow Piscean):

I'm a tad anxious about this upcoming lunar eclipse...though I know that any changes it brings will ultimately be beneficial.

Anyway, some insight into how it might impact me in particular would be greatly appreciated.

Here's the lowdown:
My Mercury is 18 degrees Pisces in 4th house, My sun is at 3 degrees Pisces in 4th house, my saturn is at 28 degrees pisces in 5th house, my venus is at 29 degrees in 5th house. (I'm guessing it will impact my 4th house more than my 5th, as the eclipse is at 15 degrees pisces.

In my tenth house, I have Pluto at 19 degrees Virgo and Uranus at 23 degrees Virgo.

How might this lunar eclipse impact both my home/family life and my career? Anything positive to expect out of this?

And also, I'm in a relationship (or I was) that's on hold for the moment. We havent' spoken in over a week. Does the lunar eclipse now point toward a permanent break-up?

My partner also has Jupiter in Pisces in his 4th house, Pluto at 11 degrees and Uranus at 4 degrees in Virgo in his 10th house.

So, we're both getting hit in the same houses...(both Scorpio rising).

What do you make of this mess?

Thanks in advance!

P.S. You look almost exactly like a very good friend of mine from many moons ago...

I was born in October 1965. My Uranus/Pluto are conjunct at 16 Virgo in my natal 5th opposite natal Saturn at 11 Pisces. Any thoughts on how this might affect those of us with this aspect? I've been feeling wildly excited this week for no reason...I feel like something is about to happen.

This one snuck up on me - I have moon/mars conjunct (17 deg) in Pisces, my 5th house. I have been a bit cranky - especially towards mother-in-law!

Lily,

Anyone born during this time period -- with Uranus conjunct Pluto -- will be strongly impacted by this eclipse, which opposes it from Pisces.

Uranus-Pluto is an explosive, transformational aspect that coincided with the turbulence and social rebellion of the Sixties. You have this energy in your natal chart, and this eclipse will set it off.

Of course, this also means that you are undergoing your Uranus Opposition, aka "midlife crisis," in which you need to shake up the static structures in your life to experience a sense of independence and aliveness. With transiting Uranus also setting off Pluto, your need to transform and inhabit your Power is liberated.

Dear Lynee (fellow Piscean),

You have provided so much information -- and since I am not an advice columnist -- I will have to suggest you contact me for a consultation.

I've got to draw the line somewhere, and if I have to sit down with nearly an entire chart, that means it's "work."

Just a quick question regarding the eclipse.

My South Node is 17 degrees Pisces in the 11th house, which makes my North Node 17 degrees Virgo in the 5th house. Just curious about what this might mean.

I can't seem to find good information to make these interpretations -- would love suggestions regarding eclipses if you have an resources you would recommend.

Sara,

South Node in Pisces in the 11th house...

I would say that this eclipse will activate your past, where you're coming from. Maybe about being a victim in groups, or your need to merge with the collective, or give up your identity for the sake of your friends, themes like that.

Your growth would be about moving towards perfecting some form of creative self-expression, focusing on the "craft" of allowing yourself to shine as an individual.

Lex,

Same as above (re: my response to Lynee). If you're going to give me the locations of all your planets, then your request crosses the line into a request for a reading.

I'm happy to provide responses in this comments section that will educate many readers (e.g., the eclipse aspecting the Uranus-Pluto conjunction or a Node) but my response to this comment would be so specific to you that it is not appropriate for this forum.

Peace, Love and Understanding,

Hi! Lovely blog. Yesterday I imagined my bad boy ex-boyfriend on one side of a mighty river. I had swum to the other shore. Finally, a final boundary! Thanks to the Moon (emotions)/Uranus (revolution)/N. Node (destiny), who are all in watery Pisces today. This eclipse feels like a blessing to a Moon/Venus Pisces natal person, in the 9th house. Do you think this makes sense, or am I dreaming? Ha!

Howdy Jeff, Howdy Y'all,

Just thought I'd say hi. I saw your site due to a recommendation by Elsa (she claims you look like her). I think that's a compliment because you're both very attractive.

Anyway, I am just killing time since I was holing myself up today and feeling depressed and reflective (how Neptunian). I thought I'd share my experience with this full moon eclipse (so far). I think that (I've found) with eclipses if I force an issue too much or try to overanalyze things (especially with a watery eclipse) it sort of takes the magic out of it. I recommend to all of you to 'go with the flow'. Very piscean, eh?

I have Moon, Mars, South Node in Pisces and I've had some emotional issues come to a head recently. I think that issues that were already present are key areas to look at. I don't know if it's really possible to 'miss the point' of an eclipse. You generally don't get it all in one shot. Things culminate at a later date or show themselves in their own time if they aren't already apparent.

So stay receptive and write down your findings as they pertain to you.

Good luck and happy eclipsing,

Hannah

Hannah,

Well, for one, I've had so much traffic driving to this blog the last few days, "eclipsing" anything I've ever written in the past, so this is quite a surprise (Uranus)!

Also, today I got to meet (in person) with a senior astrologer I work closely with -- my Sun is in my 7th house -- and I got a really positive review at work!

So far, so good!

Hi Jeffrey
What a wonderful lunar eclipse it was too!
I have Pluto 13deg Pisces 10th House and wondered whether your response to Lily is also appropriate for me born 1964, as similarly to Lily i have also been feeling very excited for weeks now and feel i'm about to start a big new chapter in my life but not sure in what area....maybe many areas i feel!
Also do you work with Chiron as i have Chiron at 12deg Pisces 4th House. How might this & the eclipse affect me?
Thank you
Best wishes

Greetings Jeffrey~ Born Sept. 4, with Saturn on my decendant in Pisces, went to the beach for a romantic evening with my boyfriend, low and behold the island was holding a Harley Davidson Owners get together, how more rebelious can you get! I have fought a commitment to this man and after I seen the full moon and remembered the eclipse, I gave in and committed to him, after reading your post I realize that it was fated. Thank you!

This is interesting reading about others eclipse experieneces.

Sept eclipse fell in my Pisces 7th house, near my Venus. Transiting Uranus is near there too. All this opposed my Natal Uranus/Pluto in my 1st house.

An ex from my b/f's past suddenly resurfaced and is causing problems.
She is writing him almost daily and posting pictures of them (from long ago) all over her blog.

I am deeply upset by her blatant disrespect to our relationship and not sure what to do, or if they are seeing each other again and I am just getting a wake up call.

Signed,
This sucks

Dear This Sucks,

Have you asked your b/f to set some firm boundaries w/ his ex? If he doesn't do that, then surely there is a problem. I do hope he has been faithful; if not, then this Uranian eclipse is definitely a wake-up call.

Howdy again,

I have a belated update on the eclipse of September 7th. The day after I had a very intense fight regarding belief systems which lead to an intense anxiety attack, leading further to a very emotional and stressful (temporary) separation from a friend (but hopefully ultimately beneficial?)Hrmm, I wish I knew a bit more about astrology so I knew exactly what areas of my chart were effected. I have read, however, that all Aries had this fall in their 12th house, and the Virgo eclipse coming up will fall in their 6th house. So, I guess taken in that light, the topic of contention between my friend and myself makes sense. Regardless, it was painful and highly emotional, but it did release a LOT of stifled feelings and tension. I'm just not sure what to fill the 'void' with.

Still, things are not resolved, but I feel like things were revealed, and are now out in the open. It's rather uncomfortable. Ahh well. I realize it's all for the best (or so I think)...

Anyway, I just thought I'd 'share'...happy Monday to y'all.

:)

Hannah,

When you read that this eclipse fell in your 12th house, and that the solar eclipse will fall in your 6th house, that is using "solar charts," which basically means that the horoscopes writer is assuming that your Ascendant or Rising Sign is Aries. This is of limited value, IMO. You'd do well to get a copy of your chart (free at astro.com). If you know your exact time of birth, you can find out your true Rising Sign, and then you will know in which houses of your chart these eclipses are falling.

Belief systems, by the way, are a 9th house issue.

Thanks for sharing,

Jeff

Thanks for the info, Jeff!

Yes indeed! I feel a bit dumb.I have had my chart done but I am confused as to why I am looking at my ascendant (I'm very confused about house and where things fall as far as transits/eclipses, etc). Goodness. I think there's something very essential I am missing here.

I'm a Sag rising, and I also have Saturn in Virgo the 9th house...hrm. I guess that relates more to problems expressing my beliefs. I don't know what I was thinking with the 12th house thing. I guess I was thinking 12th house=spirituality.

Yes, I am very confused indeed.

Your Uncle,
Hannah

(p.s. North Node is also (Virgo) in the 9th house! ;) )

1:06 AM
Blogger Hannah said...

p.s.
One thing I DO know (courtesy of the astrologer who gave me a consultation this year) is that I am going through a pluto square moon transit (and pluto conjunct ascendant). (moon=24 degrees pisces) (ascendant=25 degrees Sag)

It's been...(yikes)interesting but very educational.

I'm still confused as to how to apply the ideas and lessons of the eclipses. The hardest part of astrology is the technical aspects. I'm much better at broader concepts and the 'gestalt' of things.

Your fledgling astrology pupil,
Hannah

p.s. I've been having fun going to tribe.net and looking at the moon in pisces posts. Interesting to see people with similar astro-configurations.

p.p.s. excuse my rambling. I tend to over communicate. I've got what I think is a 'stellium' in the 3rd house (is it called a stellium if it's lined up there?). Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury and South Node in 3rd house.

I have 3rd house Venus in Piscs 13 degrees and nothing else within a 10-20 degree trigger in my natal chart. I'm feeling a burst of energy and a heightened sense of awareness. Having my sun in Aries in the 4th house 10 degrees and ASC jupiter Sag 2 degrees in the 12th conjunct neptune, I'm having a ton of revalations on "what to do" about legal matters and my living conditions that have been unstable for some time.
