A Case Study of Deception
The following guest post is by Beth Turnage of Astrology Explored.
Allie (not her real name) was in a quandary. She had met a man at work and they started dating. But the relationship stalled, and she wanted to know if it was going to work out ... or if she should break it off. It was clear through her conversation that she was extremely drawn to him, and that a breakup would be emotionally traumatic. Furthermore, a relationship comparison showed that they were very compatible. So what was the problem?
Whole books have been written about the complex subject of relationship astrology, but few of us have the time or interest to delve that deeply into the subject. But there is a quick and dirty way to parse out the kind of relationships in which we engage. When you get a handle on which planet rules your relationship, you can use it to help you navigate the course of true or not so true love.
How do you tell which planet best represents your lover? The best place to look is in your own birth chart. Look at the hard angles to your Sun and Moon, the challenge aspect called the square, the tension aspect called the opposition and the stress aspect known as the inconjunct. It is quite possible for you to have more than one of these aspects. At different points in your life, you may experience different types of relationships when that planet by transit makes important energetic connections to your Sun or Moon.
Allie's Sun and Moon (click on her chart to view) sit together in her chart, and this combination is the focal point of a yod including Jupiter in Scorpio and Neptune in Sagittarius. (A yod includes two inconjuncts, or 150-degree angles). She has a natural proclivity to get drawn into relationships with an element of deception, and she was attracted to someone she perceived to be Jupiterian, or "larger than life." The yod configuration suggests she'd feel as if she met the person she was destined to be with.
What do you think the main holdup was in the relationship? If you guessed that the man was married, you would be correct. Because of the the strong Neptune, I classifed this relationship as "Neptunian." Indeed, by transit, Neptune was squaring her Moon. The element of deception was so strong that Allie did not admit to me -- until after several consultations -- that her boyfriend was not separated, but actually living with his wife and actively raising children with her.

I am interested to know more about this. But I can't quite get how to do this.I have a Sun/Moon opposition, and Sun Saturn and Neptune are conjunct meaning they all oppose my Moon.
Uranus squares both my Sun and Moon.
So, what do I look for--transiting Uranus and Moon or something else?
btw--*my* Uranus is in Cancer making it even more connected to the Moon, too.
@Karen, that sounds pretty complex. If you look at the Sun as a man you might attract in your life, you've got many archetypes involved. I imagine Uranus would act as a separate influence from the Saturn-Neptune conjunction.
Thanks Jeffrey.:-) I thought maybe Uranus because it conjuncts my descendant *and* squares my Sun, Saturn and Neptune.
I'll start with the Sun though,to keep it simple. LOL.
Wait, Jeffrey--so, I guess I attract all kinds of men, then, huh? ;-)
Karen,
Jeffrey is right, Saturn/Neptune and Uranus are separate influences.
I put up a blog post over on my Ning page titled "Getting a Handle on Your T-Square" that goes through the specifics of your question.
Let me know what you think.
Beth
That must be funny to know theres a man somewhere in the world that possesses such a complexity.
I just realized that actress Karen Allen has nearly the same configuration, except her opposition is from Jupiter, not the moon. I'll have a post up on her today on my AE blog.
Here is Beth's Ning blog post on T-squares.
Well I'm not sure Jeffrey, but I certainly was deceived. The guy in question had the sun in Virgo 27 degrees,Moon in Virgo 23 degrees,Mars in Gemini 29 degrees,Neptune in Scorpio 7 degrees & Jupiter in Sagitaurus 25 degrees.Sorry my astrology knowledge is very limited;I'm just learning??
@deceived Anonymous, unfortunately I can't really pick out "deception" from the listing of a few planets. It looks like he does have Sun and Moon square Jupiter which has a tendency to exaggerate or "stretch."
Yes that's what it was like.He lied ,exaggerated & stretched the truth(If what he said was the truth in the first place.)I guess thats what I meant by decieved. He had a lot of Libra in his chart also;mercury, venus & ascendant. It was really crazy making stuff. The last time I spoke to him he said he'd just bought a property(we're in Australia)then said he was on workers comp due to an injury;I don't think you can get workers comp on a temp.visa!! the next thing I find out(via facebook) he's living in California?Gosh how much we can find out from a person via his astrological profile.I think I'll ask every guy before I go on a date..time and date of birth pls??
