How to get a Sagittarius to forgive you

sagittariusForgiveness is an integral component of the world's religions, one of Sag's favorite topics. Intellectually, he knows that holding on to resentment hurts him more than it hurts you, so he need not wait for your apology. Therefore, Sag may not have any problem letting bygones be bygones. The danger is that he may be holier-than-thou when you do make amends.

For the Archer, to be right is to be righteous, so it can be a challenge when you've wronged a Sag. You want absolution, but you also want to pop his balloon of self-aggrandizement. Forgiving does not make him better or more exalted. It just opens up his heart. Or at least it's supposed to.

Sag may have just a little too much ego when it comes to granting you a pardon. Until he gets out of his own way, he's acting more like the institutionalized Church than the compassionate Son. When you ask for forgiveness, wear a "What would Jesus do?" T-shirt. Hopefully, the message will knock him down from his high horse.

Is an Aquarius man / Capricorn woman match a no-go for longevity?

capricornaquarius
I am a Cap woman with Cancer moon. Cap mercury and Cap mars, Sag venus.

My love interest is an Aquarius man , Aquarius mercury and Aquarius mars, and Sag venus. The thing is he can either be an Aquarius or Pisces moon. Not sure if he's an evening birth.

If not longevity, what can [one] expect from this coupling?
Capricorn and Aquarius do not good bedfellows make. You may be a woman, but you represent The Man: authority, restrictions, rules. For Aquarius, rules are made to be broken. Your love interest is a revolutionary, not a suit-and-tie.

If you're of the Uranus-in-Libra generation (circa 1968-1975), the ruler of Aquarius may be squaring some or all of your Capricorn/Cancer planets. This aspect would give you an Uranian vibe to counteract your more conservative CapCance nature. You would have your own internal conflict between the need to be unconventional versus the need to strive towards material success. How else could one explain your attraction to the Water Bearer?

In general, any two consecutive signs in the zodiac are as different as can be. They share neither element nor quality. There is scant likelihood of compatibility unless there are other chart factors to account for the attraction. If you're not Uranian, then your Aquarius must be Saturnian, familiar with the heaviness of your Sun sign.

The good news? Both of you are adventurous in love (with Venus in Sag), so ski trips and flights to Burma may keep the fire burning bright, as long as your dry disposition doesn't extinguish the flame.

Why Aquarius loves Libra women

aquariuslibraAquarius doesn't know how to "do" relationships, so who better than Libra, the expert on partnerships, to guide him? The sign of the scales is ruled by Venus, goddess of love. She knows how to navigate the rocky territory of coupledom, using charm, compromise and all manner of secret techniques.

Aquarius is ruled by Uranus. This outer planet is more comfortable at Star Trek conventions than blind dates sipping on mochas. Uranus is all ideas. Libra can connect to him on the mental plane without losing her human touch. Both are air signs, expressing themselves best in the social and intellectual realms. Libra may not be a space alien like Aquarius, but she can tune into his wavelength enough to decode his transmissions.

Why not Gemini women? Although Gemini is also an air sign, it is ruled by Mercury, planet of communication. Uranus is a "higher octave" of the messenger planet. Put together two thinkers and you'll have some good discussions, but not much incentive to make the connection physical. Some goddess energy is required to take Aquarius out of the clouds and into the bedroom.

How does an Aries girl keep a Gemini man interested?

ariesgeminiGeminiLover64 asks:
I'm an Aries girl, who seems to be a perfect match for my Gemini man. My question is how do I keep him interested in me and get him to propose marriage? By the way i'm 3 yr. older than him.
A Gemini man has a wandering eye and a fickle disposition -- what can you do to keep him interested?

You can start by not boring him. If he does not feel engaged in conversation with you, he'll seek stimulation elsewhere. Surely, as an Aries you've got the inspiration to at least start the momentum. You can begin with your favorite topic -- yourself -- and no doubt he will take that subject and run with it. As long as you don't keep bringing the discussion back to "me me me," you two should have a blast.

Frankly, I am surprised than an Aries would ask a codependent question like, "How do I keep him interested in me?" If he's not into you, there must be something wrong with him! Let a Libra do all the deliberating. If a man doesn't go along with you on your mission, leave him in the dust!

Also, "How do I keep him interested?" smacks of, "How do I compromise myself or manipulate my man to keep him in love with me forever?" All you can do is be yourself. If you sacrifice your authenticity to make someone else love you (if you can call that "love"), then the woman (or girl) your man thinks he loves is no more than an illusion. Leave fantasy to Pisces! Your job is to initiate the cycle of the seasons. If an Aries wavers in her truth, then the sanctity of the entire zodiac is threatened. You're the more active sign in this couple, anyways -- why don't you propose marriage?

Is Scorpio man cheating on Virgo woman?

virgoscorpioA Virgo female asks:
I have read a lot of different horoscopes about Scorpios and Virgos. Are we really compatible and are these two signs a good love match? Also, my Scorpio man and I have been seeing each other for over a year now. I have revealed to him that I am in love with him. He has told told me that he loves me, but that he is not in love with me, but that he cares for me deeply and that it takes him a while to fall in love. Is this normal for most Scorpios and does it usually take this long for a Scorpio to fall in love? Also, I have no proof but at times I feel that my Scorpio may be involved with other women and I know that Scorpio's are very sexual and lustful. Is it possible that my Scorpio man is telling me the truth that he does care for me deeply, but that due to his lustful nature he can still juggle other women, while having deep feelings for me? I have asked him in the past if he is involved with anyone else and to please be truthful with me. He always replies that I worry too much and that he is not seeing other people. However, my gut instinct and intuition makes me feel that he is. Should I take it that if I do feel that something is going on that it probably is and that he is being dishonest with me? If so, does that mean that he does not care deeply for me as he claims? Do you think that there is a chance for a Scorpio and Virgo to have a deep love bond, so much so that my Scorpio man will give up all other women and fall in love with me? Please help. Virgo girl not sure what to do.
"He has told told me that he loves me, but that he is not in love with me, but that he cares for me deeply and that it takes him a while to fall in love."

Since you're a Virgo, you will bear with me as I linguistically parse these phrases (with apologies to George Lakoff).
  • When he loves you, he is performing an action, because love is being used as a verb. He is willing to care for you.
  • When he is in love with you, both of you are in a box, for LOVE IS A CONTAINER.
  • When he falls in love, he is not in control. He slips and falls into the "love box," against his will.
As we know, Scorpios are control freaks, so it is not so easy for them to allow themselves to do anything against their will, to surrender. For a Scorpio, giving up control opens up the risk of hurt and betrayal, so perhaps it does take him a long time to fall in love.

One way to guard against surrender is by having affairs, for it keeps him at a distance from the love box. However, you may just be a Virgo worrywort. Just because you feel something is going on, does not mean that it is. But you also should trust your gut, especially because Virgo rules this part of the body. You likely have good "attention to detail" (Virgos love to put this on their resume). What would be "out of place" if your Scorpio were cheating on you? Would you notice? I'm not telling you to poke around his private affairs, for that will certainly make a Scorpio run for the hills. But think logically about what would be "out of order." Also keep in mind that Virgos are self-critical. Maybe you don't feel good enough to have a man devote himself wholeheartedly to you.

Virgo and Scorpio are a good match, but this is not what your concern is really about. I'd suggest that you look at your relationship history. Have you been cheated on before? Do you feel worthy of being loved? If after your own self-exploration you still feel in your gut that he is cheating, write back and we'll see what we can do.

Older Scorpio man, younger Capricorn woman

scorpiocapricornDo age differences matter? Traditionally, an older man provides financial security and a well-developed life perspective. He may also bring a sagging libido, a receding hairline, and dated pop culture references. However, zodiac combinations tell a more diverse story. An older Scorpio man may not ever lose his sex drive, and young Capricorns aren't really youthful, anyway. Cap is ruled by Saturn, the planet of aging and maturity. Capricorns are forced to take on responsibility and overcome adversity at an early age, making them more seasoned than their peers. The older Scorpio is unlikely to find a young Cap who hasn't thought long and hard about what she wants out of her life. Hence, they may both be "settled" to a similar degree.

The older Scorpio male is still prone to jealousy, imagining that his doe is eyeing males her own age. However, he can probably rest assured. Capricorns have been known to cheat, but overall they are a faithful bunch. Besides, she is attracted to her Scorpio man's power and charisma.

Overall, these two make a good pair. The woman may not want to take as many sexual risks as her older lover, but they can share a satisfying love life. If the man still has staying power, they can go at it for hours -- Cap is slow and steady, while Scorp has drive and perseverance. Put together this emotionally intense man and high-achieving woman, and who knows what can happen?

Gemini and a locked up Sagittarius

geminisagittariusIf you've got a Sag man behind bars, then his need for freedom takes on a different flavor. Perhaps you have started a correspondence, and want to know if a relationship is possible. Or you lost him to the law, and want to know if the romance will last.

A locked up Sag is likely to find religion or earn a degree. He's got time on his hands and nowhere to go, so he may study Christian or Islamic texts, and come to feel remorse for his earlier transgressions -- and not just because he got caught. He may study law to appeal his case or help out other inmates. The life of the mind is his only avenue for exploration, so he will do whatever he can to make the time go by while acquiring useful knowledge.

As a Gemini, you can support him. A woman of words, you may not always be interested in the big questions, but you can provide him with books, and enliven your correspondence like no other sign can. Your writing serves as a lifeline to a man who feels isolated. A Sag behind bars is a recipe for depression, and the only antidote is faith. You may need to use your curiosity about his interests to get him inspired to keep going.

Remember: He can't bolt if he feels you're hemming him in, but he doesn't have to respond to your letters or see you at visiting hours. But hey, you're a Gemini, so you're not likely to place demands on him, anyway.

Comment below: What other ways can a Sag be "locked up"?

Does a "happy" Scorpio male pursue sexual relations outside of his marriage with an ex-flame?

librascorpioConflicted Libra asks:
I am a libra female who had a 5 year relationship with a scorpio male. He accused me of cheating on him and ended the relationship. We lost touch for a few years and then I searched him out on one of those class reunion websites. He responded to my e-mail quickly and we have continued e-mail exchanges. Over the last year and a half we have met in person twice and ended up in sleeping together. I have told him on both occassions that I still have feelings for him even 7 years after our breakup and that I truly feel he was the one person who was meant to be for me. His response was that he feels a familiarity but has since moved on and no longer feels the same way he did about me when we were together. While that clearly stings the soul, my question is, what is he pursuing and why would he be pursuing it with me if he wasn't interested or felt anything for me. Our relationship was very intense, passionate, affectionate, and basically wonderful until the end when the accusations of infidelity arose. Being new in my career, I traveled frequently and he had suspicions that I was cheating on him. We were different then and so it hurts more now than ever, to see him again at this stage of our lives knowing fully well we could have made an ideal couple. I am confused as to why he continues to pursue me when he admitted his marriage to his Capricorn wife has it's ups and downs, but for the most part he is happy. Does a "happy" Scorpio male pursue sexual relations outside of his marriage with an ex-flame? His actions and words do not make sense to this conflicted and heart broken Libra. Is it, in your opinion given our signs, we will ever reunite permanently? He did confess that it took him over 6 months to get over leaving me but he knew that we were in different stages in our lives, and we needed to go different directions. Recently he did admit that he thinks things could have been different. He is flirtatious, but not affectionate. I believe there has to be some small corner of his heart reserved for me otherwise this wouldn't be happening. I am not happy in my marriage to my Cancer husband and I am not so sure he is so happy with his Capricorn wife. On top of my questions above, this one weighs on my mind the most. Is committing infidelity on our existing marriages going to impact any potential for a future for us? I know he's got trust issues, but if I feel like I am under a spell when I'm with him and I can't say no to my heart or to his sexual proposals. Can you please help me figure this out?
You mention that you "still have feelings for him even 7 years after [y]our breakup." Saturn has a quarter cycle every seven years, in which it moves 90 degrees around the zodiac. I wonder if he left you when Saturn was making a difficult transit to love planets or points in either (or both) of your natal charts. The serious inquiry required by a Saturn transit can lead to an ending or a deeper commitment. Seven years later, these themes surrounding your breakup are re-appearing.

The Scorpio man can intensely connect with a lover, or he can use the power of manipulation to get his way. Of course, he can linger anywhere in between these extremes, but Scorpio does tend to be black-and-white in these matters. Your ex may have a small corner of his heart reserved for you, but what is a small corner worth? Will it buy you a ticket on the Love Express? If he is flirtatious but not affectionate -- and one doesn't need to be an astrologer to say this -- he may just be having sex with you because he can get you into bed. He may not be thrilled with his marriage, but also not feel any need to leave his wife, either.

The other option is that he is exploring the possibility of a relationship with you, but is hiding his love to protect himself. If just the thought of your infidelity seven years ago was enough for him to end the relationship, he's sensitive to betrayal.

Which leads to the question, "Is committing infidelity on our existing marriages going to impact any potential for a future for us?" I'm just being logical here: If Scorpio breaks up with a woman because he thinks she is cheating, and seven years later he cheats on his wife with that woman, who is cheating on her husband ... no, I can't do the math! For one, the double-standard (he can cheat, but probably wouldn't tolerate his wife's infidelity) is not an admirable quality. Second, if he is a possessive Scorpio, why would he get emotionally involved with you if he knows you are capable of cheating on your husband? This line of reasoning makes it doubtful that he's reserved more than a small corner of his heart for you.

Will a Virgo female get dirty in bed?

virgoWe all know that the prim and proper librarian experiences reckless abandon in bed, throwing off her geek-chic black-rimmed glasses, letting down her long black hair, and ripping open her bodice, buttons flying. (Or is that just my male fantasy?)

Virgo is associated with the myth of Persephone, in which the daughter of the grain goddess Demeter is abducted into the underworld by Hades. In Demeter's grief, she neglects the earth and people starve. Zeus intercedes to bring Persephone back, but Hades slips Persie a bottle of Pom Wonderful, which results in her needing to stay in his realm for four months every year.

The underworld is a kinky place, full of sexual deviants. The Virgo female needs to occasionally get dirty to fulfill her contract. One archetypal expression of Virgo is the Sacred Prostitute, serving the Divine through the sensual arts. The key for the Virgo female is to get down while maintaining her integrity. She can be "pure of spirit" in the bedroom, as long as she does not stray from her center. When winter has overcome its stay and Persie has not returned from Hades' realm, it is time to call the Zeus Recovery Service.

How can an Aries woman and a Gemini man work it out?

ariesgeminiaries_gal asks:
I, an aries female (w/ a scorpio rising) have been dating my gemini guy (w/ a cancer rising) for a couple of years now..although we do love each other, we argue and bicker constantly, we seem to get along only half the time..we make great friends but am not sure if we could make a marriage work. Are we just not meant for each other? Are we just wasting each other's time..should we just just call it quits ?? thanks!
Both of you have water signs on your Ascendant. Scorpio rising can be secretive, and Cancer rising can be defensive -- different ways of protecting yourselves, as you are emotionally open to your environments. Using whole sign houses, you would have your Aries Sun in your 6th House of Work and Health. You put your pioneering Aries fire into keeping your daily routine organized, and may become easily irritated if the order you need is disrupted. I can only imagine that a relationship with a Gemini would make it a challenge to have predictability in your daily life, as consistency is not one of Gemini's virtues.

In addition to having Cancer rising, your Gemini man would have his Sun in his 12th House of Seclusion and Imagination. Not only is he prone to hiding behind his shell when the going gets rough -- he is also most at home by himself. (If he is a gossip hound, it all happens behind the scenes.) Being that both Scorpio and Aries are (traditionally) ruled by Mars, you are a "don't mess with me" type of woman, and when you get riled up, your Gemini may run -- not so much physically, but emotionally. He retreats into himself. Being a 12th House person, he's not as attached as you are to things being "just so," and as a mutable Sun, he is more able to go with the flow. With your fixed Rising sign and your Sun in the very particular 6th House, you are much more attached to having things your way. Your Gemini man may often be willing to concede, but if you attack him with your Ram's antlers and Scorpion's sting, he's going to either hide in his Crab shell, or complain incessantly.

You can't change your Gemini guy, but you can look at yourself. Ease up on your anger when Gemini forgets to re-file your CDs, and see what happens.

How to come back to Aries

ariesAries is always right -- for there are no other viewpoints to consider -- so the best way to come back is to yield. You probably broke up because you locked horns with the Ram, and realized that he would never concede. So you left, and realized either that you were wrong, or that even though you are right, you are willing to brush pride aside to be held beneath his powerful arms.

You don't need to plan an elaborate apology. He burned through his anger weeks ago! Just admit the error of your ways, and pledge that you will follow his lead on all matters. If he has not already moved on to someone else, Aries will likely take you back.

Who is better for a Taurus woman -- a Capricorn man or a Cancer man?

cancercapricorntaurusDecisions, decisions.

The question alone sounds like a pitch for a romantic comedy. Tam, a self-sufficent young woman able to hold down her beer and beat her brother at arm wrestling, is torn between two guys. Jack is a type-A Corporate America personality who wears three-piece suits and does power lunches. Sal cooks pastries at the local bakery, and spends his lunch break feeding ducks at Central Park. Tam loves Jack's confidence and authority, but she's totally sweet on Sal, a man who's not afraid to show his vulnerable side.

Jack takes Tam to a swanky uptown restaurant where he slips the maitre d' a few bills to get them the best table. He wants to fly her on his private jet to Madrid over the weekend. But wait! She has a date with Sal this Saturday to view 'The Dinner Party' exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum. What should she do? How can she turn down this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity?

You see, a man with money fills her need for financial security. Not that she can't make it on her own -- she's doing fine selling her clients' stuff on eBay -- but she's certainly not opposed to getting a nice diamond. On the other hand, Tam could totally feel taken care of by Sal, in a different way. She loves his romantic nature and that he would go out of his way to make her feel safe. Jack just doesn't feel cushy, you know.

This turning-point -- where the above paragraph plays out in a flashback montage over a catchy but sentimental emo song -- occurs near the end of the film. It's your turn to write the ending.

Which sign falls in love easily with Sagittarius and Aquarius?

sagittariusaquariusLet's play the "process of elimination" game:
  • Discard all earth (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) and water (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) signs, because they're all discordant with air (Aquarius) and fire (Sagittarius).
  • Discard Gemini and Leo. Gemini opposes Sagittarius, and Leo opposes Aquarius. Opposites may attract, but who needs the stress? As April Elliott Kent writes about opposite signs, "spending time with someone whose approach to life is completely opposite your own can be draining, ... and eventually your relationship battery will need to be recharged."
  • That leaves us with Aries and Libra. Both make supportive angles (sextile and trine) to Sagittarius and Aquarius. There's mucho compatibility, and little friction.
  • Who falls in love more easily? Libra, of course. Not that fiery Aries is incapable of love -- far from it. But Libra is the love sign, ruled by relationship goddess Venus and associated with the 7th House of Marriage.
Love is not this logical, of course. If you fall for the Archer and Water Bearer and are not a Libra, comment below.

Should Virgo woman take friendship with Cancer man to the next level?

virgocancerMiss Worried Virgo writes:
OK so its resorted to this. Me Miss Virgo, just recently started dating a Cancer man. We have been long time friends but the romantic connection is so very strong, at least for me anyway. Talk about romance. He knows exactly what to say and do. He broke up with some one about 3 months ago. He went so far as to change his phone numbers and moved and doesnt care that she cant reach him. I knew she hurt him because he would come crying to me to often. Never in a million years did I think we would be dating!!! At times he can get moody and the predictable Virgo that I am cant take those mood swings. This is sort of weird because we were friends first and never in a million years did I think we would be going out on dates. He knew my boyfriend and I knew his girlfriend. I dont want to ruin our friendship by going to the next level in the relationship but he is persistant and I must admit that I am willing. Should I just call it off now to save our friendship? The thought of him being with some one else would kill me however, even though we have never been sexually involved.
Friendships are sacred, but romantic relationships are even more rare. I know you are being cautious, as is Virgo's inclination. However, you only live once. (At least in your current body!)

Virgo-Cancer is a fine combination. You may analyze your feelings more than necessary while he wallows in his moods, but you both share a risk-averse nature that will keep you tied to the work-home routine, without too much disruption.

Be careful, though. Cancer can get defensive, and if he completely shut out his ex to the point of moving and changing his number, what's to say he may not do the same to you if he feels sufficiently wounded? Cancer is ruled by the habitual Moon and serves his past -- he may be a slave to old patterns that are hard to shake. Virgo has been known to nitpick, and the Crab may be too sensitive to bear too much criticism. Harp on him too much, and he'll retreat into his shell. After that, you won't be able to reach him on his cell.

Is a Sagittarius woman or a Pisces woman better for an Aquarius man?

sagittariusaquariuspiscesThe Aquarian man needs an outgoing woman, and preferably one who can challenge his mind. The Archer, in addition to sharing Aquarius' need for freedom, is at heart a philosopher. Ruled by expansive Jupiter, the Sagittarian woman loves to explore -- geographically, academically, theologically. An inspirational fire sign, she uses her pulpit to convert her congregation to some pretty high falootin' idears. And who loves idears more than Aquarius? Aquarius breathes thought, being the airiest of the air signs. If grand theories about the nature of the universe could be served in liquid form, he'd be hanging out by the bar, waiting for the Sag woman of his dreams to engage him in Socratic dialogues.

Although the Pisces woman likes to drink, she imbibes one part dreams and two parts music, nursing a concoction so hazy that no bartender knows how to mix it. Philosophies and theories don't make her mouth water -- rather, visions of losing herself in oceanic bliss-states are her sustenance. How could an Aquarius man possibly connect with a woman whose mind goes beyond even the most abstract of equations, who creates images irreducible to algebraic formulas? He is more at home with a woman who revels in the diversity of opinions, beliefs and cultures, swallowing knowledge as if it were the only brew that could quench her thirst.

Why does Pisces lie?

piscesPisces has two planetary rulers: Jupiter (exaggeration and idealism) and Neptune (fantasy and imagination). So, whether you're a traditionalist (those astrologers who think the solar system stops at Saturn) or a modernist, there's a good explanation for Pisces' deceptive nature.

Neptune governs illusions and delusions. Sometimes fantasy is preferable to reality, don't you think? Can you blame Pisces the Daydreamer for spending more time in escapist thought than in the daily grind? And if he's lying to you, how do you know he's not lying to himself as well?

Jupiter (and this also goes for you Sagittarians!) doesn't so much lie as expand on the truth, and overlook details. Signs ruled by this planet will ignore facts that don't fit into their Grand Theory.

Tall tales, utter falsehoods. A lying Pisces is not likely to have malicious intent -- he just doesn't want to embrace reality as everyone else perceives it. That, or he doesn't want to get caught!

How do you get Taurus to do anything?

taurusA frustrated reader writes:
Enough about Scorps! What about Taurus? Why are they so damned stubborn? And how do you get them to do anything??
Have you noticed that Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius are all fixated in one way or another? They are all resistant to change, whether in the realm of ideas (Aquarius), their self-importance (Leo) or emotional resentments (Scorpio). All these signs have one thing in common -- being fixed signs. They're all stubborn, just in different ways. What makes Taurus take the cake, though, is that the Bull is an earth sign. Compared to the other elements (water, fire, air), earth is the most reserved and cautious. Earth signs (which also include Virgo and Capricorn) need to see the goods to feel secure -- cold, hard cash; a plotted graph; a dust-free cabinet. When you mix fixed with earth, you get Taurus -- the most stubborn sign of the zodiac. Taurus doesn't want to let go (fixed) of any of his possessions (earth), and wants things to stay just as they are, thank you very much.

So, how do you get him to do anything? Venus provides the key. The planet of love, money and art is the ruler of Taurus. The Bull is a pleasure-hound, and will be roused out of his laziness if there's a reward to be had. The reward, mind you, must be physical -- praise won't cut it. A deep massage, sexual favors, rich food, sweets, money -- whatever it takes to bribe Taurus into taking a course of action. Learn the principles of behaviorism to develop an effective schedule of reinforcement. You know: rat gets pellet of food when it hits a lever.

I know it's not easy. If Taurus has dug his heels regarding an issue important to you -- such as his willingness to spend Christmas with your parents -- then it may take some creativity and persistence to find the right carrot to get your donkey walking.

Scorpio and Cancer break the ice

cancerscorpioScorpio: So, you seen any good movies lately?

Cancer: Oh, I watched 'Terms of Endearment' last night, for like, the hundredth time.

Scorpio: 'Terms of Endearment'? How sappy! I wanna see 'Zodiac.' Now that's a movie I can get into. Murder, creepiness ...

Cancer: Gross! How can you even watch that stuff? I'd be rolled up in a ball the entire movie.

Scorpio: [Grins.] I'll protect you!

Cancer: Please, let's change the subject. So, what do you do for a living?

Scorpio: [Pause.] If I told you, I'd have to kill you.

Cancer: Ha ha! No, really.

Scorpio: I'm not kidding.

Cancer: [Long pause.] OK, um ... I'm gonna get another drink.

Getting what you want from a Scorpio male

scorpioHow do you manipulate the master manipulator? How do you pull one over on "He who sleeps with his eyes open"?

If a Scorpio were to give you what you want, it would not be to please you -- he would give it to you because he wants to. The moment he feels you're trying to use him or get something out of him, he knows it. He may not call you on it -- instead, he might deduct points from your tab, and send the Debt Collector when you've overdrawn on your goodwill account.

The best way to get what you want is to ask for it ... directly. Scorpio knows every game in the book, whether you go over his head, behind his back or beneath his gaze. Why would he trust you if you're trying to play him? You'll get much more respect if you're open about your motives.

Why are Scorpios so sexual?

scorpioScorpio is ruled by Pluto. Mythologically, Pluto is the Roman counterpart of Hades, Lord of the Underworld. However, there is more to Pluto than textbook mythology. The astrological Pluto governs all that is hidden and taboo. Whatever society deems unacceptable gets shoved aside, either into the unconscious or the red light district or other disreputable parts of town. The "underworld" is not just Hell, but the dwelling place of people who need to work or live outside the light of day.

Religion

Sex, for better or worse, is taboo ... or at least most types of sexual activity. The Church only approves of sex within the context of procreation. Sex outside of marriage, sex between two people of the same gender, sex between minors, sex between a minor and an adult, sex between clergymen and ....

Words and deeds are, of course, two separate things, as we see. But nonetheless, many people in power want to suppress sexuality, unless it is sanctioned by the ChurchState.

Death

Pluto also rules death. Sex and death are intimately related. The French call the orgasm a "mini death." In sexual union, there is a death of the individual, when two beings dissolve their ego boundaries and become one emotional, spiritual unit. The act of procreation itself is essential for the survivial of the species. Without sex, our race will literally die. In addition, humans often feel the biological imperative to have their genes carried along future generations. There is an illusion of immortality when you know that, even when you physically die, a part of you is carried along by your children, and your children's children, and so on.

Archetype

Psychiatrist Stan Grof conducted LSD research and found that participants had different types of psychedelic experiences. He categorized them into BPMs, or Basic Perinatal Matrices, which he correlated with stages of the birth process. BPM III relates to the stage of contraction of the uterus. It is a life or death struggle for the fetus ... the most intense part of birth, no doubt. During BPM III LSD experiences, participants had inner experiences with the folowing themes: "titanic fight, sadomasochistic experiences, intense sexual arousal, demonic episodes, scatalogical involvement, and encounter with fire."

Sounds Scorpionic, huh? Philospher and astrologer Richard Tarnas, in tandem with Stan Grof, associates BPM III with the astrological Pluto. This archetype is deeply ingrained within the collective psyche. It appears to be greater than "culture."

Astrology

Scorpios are intimately familiar with the Plutonic realm. Sex may be a fight against death, an effort to die a little death, or a desire to overcome death. Either way, Scorpio's planetary rulership goes a long way to explain why this zodiac sign is so sexual.

Comment below: Share your intense, Scorpionic sexual preoccupations. If you dare.

Should a Capricorn woman get her hopes up?

capricorncancerA Capricorn asks:
I'm Capricorn Sun and Cancer Moon, I notice I attract mostly Scorpio and very recently, Cancer. I enjoy the spiritual depths of Scorpio and Cancer. I'm also a homebody, extremely financially responsible and prefer old world customs. I'm interested in a Cancer Sun/ Capricorn Moon. Should I get my hopes up?
I can see why you would want a Cancer Sun/ Capricorn Moon. Having two Sun-Moon conjunctions in synastry would seem to be the ingredients for a perfect marriage. But how do you go about finding such a person? (If you've already found someone specific, and this is not just a theoretical longing, please ignore the following rant.)

If you're looking for, say, someone in their late forties, a July 8, 1960 birthdate fits the bill. Someone in their late thirties? July 17, 1970. I could go on. Buy an ephemeris and look for any birthday that has this combination -- or pay an astrologer to do it -- and then put a classified ad on craigslist.org listing all the dates.

You'll get responses (hopefully) from only those who fit your criteria. Screen them over email, go on dates, maybe go steady with one or two, get engaged, yada yada. And who are you stuck with? Someone much like you! What fun is that?

Not that there's anything wrong with the attraction. I've been drawn to Aquarius Sun/ Pisces Moon types in my day. (There's your roundabout answer, if anyone feels compelled to ask about my sign!) No doubt, a match like this can feel very comfortable. But there's something to be said for variety.

And if you've already found him or her? Work it!

Will the March 3 eclipse end our relationship?

piscesvirgoA Virgo woman asks:
I am a 6 degrees Pisces rising with 13 degrees Virgo sun woman. I have been involved with a 12 degrees Virgo rising with 9 degrees Pisces sun man. What a polarity! He cannot decide between me and his ex, a leo rising scorpio woman. Is the March 3 eclipse going to end it for us once and for all? How can I make sense of this eclipse?
The lunar eclipse (Full Moon) this Saturday -- with the Moon at 13 Virgo -- will conjoin your Sun in your 7th House of Partnership, as well as his Ascendant (1st House of Self). Uranus -- the planet of unpredictability and independence -- and the Sun are currently in your 1st House and will be in his 7th House.

Let's look at you, first. Uranus is opposing your Sun, which can signify the man in your life. You need to experience a revolution -- a change in the status quo -- with regards to how your own needs (1st House) relate to your partner's (7th House Sun). Oppositions (180-degree angle) are make-or-break aspects. There is a sense of culmination. Either there will be a radical restructuring of your relationship, or you two will separate. He can't stay on the fence much longer. That's the Uranus part. The Full Moon will illuminate something about your man or your needs in the relationship ... something that may not have been conscious before. This eclipse is a powerful trigger of your Uranus transit.

Uranus is transiting your Pisces man's 7th House. He, too, needs revolution in his partnership. The Full Moon conjunct his Ascendant illuminates his own needs and how he relates to the world, the "face" he puts on. How do the changes in his relationship conflict with how he sees himself, how he wants to be seen?

I don't know if this eclipse will end your relationship, but I do know that something has to change if it is to survive.

Read about the upcoming lunar eclipse at my other blog, Lunar Tunes.
