Which signs are most likely to fall in love?
I love you.
I am in love with you.
I have fallen in love with you.
The degree of personal autonomy of the speaker of these utterances seems to decrease as we go down this list. To love is an action, a verb. To be in love is a more passive state. To borrow from the cognitive linguists, LOVE IS A CONTAINER, and the speaker is inside the love box. Finally, to fall in love is to be in the love box almost against one's will, as if by accident. On a continuum from conscious and voluntary to unconscious and involuntary, where do you think falling falls?
I am tempted to categorize these experiences by element and modality. Who is most likely to get carried away, and hence, fall in love? Fire signs? Mutable signs? It seems that a Sag or Pisces is more likely to fall in love than a Capricorn or Aquarius. Someone more cardinal or earth would seem to choose to love someone ... not that one can choose to love anyone, but that there is a more pragmatic, take-life-into-your-own-hands approach to matters of love for these signs. A mutable air sign (Gemini) may become more spontaneously smitten than, say, a fixed air sign (Aquarius), which may be more logical about love. Water in general would be more prone to falling in love than earth. Fire would be more prone than air, because it's more impulsive, but not by a wide margin.

Hm.. good question. I think pisces is more likely to love idea of love and libra too. I don't know if one sign over another actually falls in love more often.
In my experience sag would rather run than fall in love. Unless of course that love interest would just sit by and wait or go along with sag to do his/her thing.
Oh, boy - astrology and linguistics! It doesn't get any better than this!
When I think about the three statements at the beginning of your post, I think of them all as describing a state. Possibly different states, but still states rather than actions. According to most linguistic analyses I've seen, states are involuntary. We don't choose to love, or to be in love or to have fallen in love. That last one, though, seems to focus more on the process of getting to that state. And focusing on the process rather than the state strikes me as "fire"-like.
It also seems the most self-centered of the three. Another "fire"-like trait?
Someone once distinguished between the first two statements by saying that the second says something about me (the speaker) while the first says something about you (the object of affection). That makes some sense to me.
I have four planets in Sagittarius, but, since my progressed Moon has moved into Pisces, I've found myself saying the first one more often than the other two.
Which sign falls in love most?
Darned if I know?Let me think.
Taurus is enslavable by th senses..they thnk they're in love--Libra loves love, the idea of it.
So, we're always "loving" someone, LOL.
Aries gets all hot and excited and gets carried away about things--so does Pisces actually, but differntly, than Aries.
that's it.Libras always have love affairs, but who *loves*most?--I don't know.
We all can, and very rarely really do, I think.
I'd break it down sign-by-sign like this:
Aries, Leo - falls in love with trophy material. Aries and Leos know they're in love when they find themselves bragging to everyone they know about their mate.
Taurus - falls in love with the person who can and will upgrade their lives. Taureans know they're in love with they can see themselves with their mates in the long-term.
Gemini - falls in love with the person who presents a challenge, is continuously interesting, and doesn't fall in love with either of the twins first. Geminis know they're in love when they can't stop thinking about their mate.
Cancer - falls in love if they feel a "connection." Cancers know they're in love when they want to settle down and have a family with that person.
Virgo - falls in love with the perfectly flawed person. Virgos know they're in love when they start planning and executing Operation: Improve My Mate's Life.
Libra - falls in love with anyone who can out-charm them (also falls in love with trophy material like Aries and Leo). Libras know they're in love when they think their mate is the most attractive person anywhere they go.
Scorpio - falls in love when they're good & ready and not one second before then (or they wake up one day realizing they involuntarily "fell in love" with a confidant). Scorpios know they're in love when they're willing to die (or kill) for their mate.
Sagittarius - falls in love with their best friend. Sags know they're in love when they want to explore the world with their mate.
Capricorn - falls in love with the person they admire. Cappys know they're in love when they get married.
Pisces - falls in love with the person who makes their fantasies come true. Pisceans know they're in love when they feel blissful and that things can't get any better.
In my experience, the sun signs that are less stereotypically romantic (e.g., Aquarius, Gemini) are more reluctant to consciously fall in love because they're "not used to feeling this way." Ironically, these are the signs that have wanted to rush into a relationship with me, despite the obvious incompatibilities. The more "romantic" signs (e.g., Taurus, Cancer, Pisces) are not as reluctant to fall in love, but slower to get into relationships (they need a lot of evaluation time?).
All I know is I'm tired of dealing with guys who resent that they've "fallen in love" with me, as if they were dragged kicking and screaming into loving someone. My last three exes have all said something similar to me: When I met you, I wasn't looking to get into a relationship, but you were different...
Doesnt the postion of Venus effect thıs too? Either way I am defınıtely votıng for all fıre sıgns and Pisces too. I thınk people wıth a mıx of fıre and water ın theır chart are vıcıtıms to love.....hmm ı dont mean vıctıms but maybe sponaneously romantıc and preoccupıed wıth the notıon of love.
the only water sıgn less lıkely too fall often would be the control-freak scorpıo who only ıntentıonally would gıve someone that power over them.
sorry ı am gonna stop wrıtıng. ı am ın turkey and thıs keyboard ıs just plaın weırd and ıt ıs messıng up my grammar.....
I hear you blah-blah--as though you forced them into it!LOL
I have a thought though.why not ask one(if this happnes again)why they are telling you this.
Maybe he only meant he was not "usually" in love so fast etc.?
;-)
You know what?I've known almost every Sun sign to imagine he or she was in love...and sometimes was.
It's true, I'm a Libra, and Libras like someone that can out-charm them LOL.Also, usually someone smart.
But,I know Geminis *and* Scorpios who get attached easily--love or no love--they're in something!:-)
I agree with Sagilarious: "... all fıre sıgns and Pisces too. I thınk people wıth a mıx of fıre and water ın theır chart are ... spontaneously romantıc and preoccupıed wıth the notıon of love." They are most likely to be 'swept away' by feelings of love, imo.
I fall in love too easily: Leo Sun, Cancer rising, Pisces Moon, Venus in Gemini, Mars in Sag. And the easiest way to get me to fall in love with you is banter. But is it real love? That I don't know. I think it's mostly illusion, alas...
I think Pisces, Leos and Aries...
@BlahBlah, I love it!!!!!!!!!
as an aries woman with venus in taurus, I am CONSTANTLY facing the " love" problem. I like quick and easy sexual partners, but the taurus in me becomes like a possesive wife once the words''' serious relationship / " I love you " have been uttered. It's like a sick cycle of loving to be in love, loving to surrender to love, and , loving the knowledge of someone else being in love with you. ( IF that makes any sense ) . ME and my new mate pisces just went from sex buddies to a serious relationship ( in what I think was a short time period of knowing each other ), only to discover that sometimes the fantasy of love that one creates is better than living the actually reality of the love life.
BlahBlah, You just wrote a "Love by the Signs" article ... that's worth at least 100 bucks!
I can't say I've loved so far. I have and had significant people in my life, I have a person I care for and have great communication with, but I can't say I love them.
I tend to look for convenience and benefits in possible relationships, and avoid commitment, but I get easily jealous. It's not even standard jealousy, it's dark jealousy and envy.
It doesn't have to be because I adore the person that much but rather because I can't stand the thought of one of my former partners being happy without me.
I tend to both choose and attract the wrong people, so to speak. If convenience, care and mental comfort fades, I become amputative.
Then again, I have some nasty aspects that may contribute to such an outlook and approach to attachement and relationships. I have Moon Squaring my Venus for example. My MC squares the Venus as well.
I have to agree on fire-elementals being prone to crushes, infatuations, et cetera. A Sag friend of mine changes "true love of her life" on annual basis. I can also see how water-influence people can get carried away, I witnessed a lot of Cancers latching onto marriages for example, and most Scorpios I know are into affairs or relationships (well, obviously).
...Actually, when I think of it, it seems like every single person I know is in a somekind of attachement.
@Proserpine, that's a good idea. I would ask that if my exes hadn't already volunteered the information. This "you're different" conversation usually happens after they blow up or mismanage their "emotions" and they're trying to explain why they overreacted about something relatively minor. They look like they're still in shock at their behavior. I guess it would be funny if I didn't keep going through it over and over again.
I've said it before, but no more dating fire sun signs or fiery moon/venus/mars placements for me. In my experience, they tend to fall in love quickly without really getting to know a person, and then have angry outbursts when they feel disappointed or disillusioned by unpredictability (which is likely to happen when you don't really get to know a person).
@Sagilarious, everything in the chart probably affects how someone falls in love. I used sun signs in my breakdown for the sake of brevity, but I would say the same goes if the descriptions are applied to other planetary placements. There's just a blending of styles. For example, a sun sign Sag with venus in Capricorn might tend to fall in love with a co-worker who they admire, but become conscious of their love after the co-worker becomes a buddy.
@Eme Kah, with those placements, how do you manage NOT to be in love at all times? :)
@Jeff, *I'm thinking of ways to spend my $100*
@Cappylady, thanks. I've dated almost every sign twice over and that list is shorthand for my experiences. lol
@Blee, I have an Aries friend that has venus in Taurus and you remind me of her. She loves the infatuation stage (kissing random people on vacations), but she always manages to fall into these long-term relationships. I like teasing "Miss Steady" about revoking her player card.
@Noctule, I agree so much with your statement: "I witnessed a lot of Cancers latching onto marriages for example, and most Scorpios I know are into affairs or relationships (well, obviously)." It's funny to me how traditional astrology says Cancers and Scorpios are supposed to be compatible when Cancer seems much more sentimental and traditional than Scorpio to me. Unless the Scorpio has some Cancer/Pisces influence, the Cancer/Scorp combo can be great affair, but difficult long-term. I have both planets in my chart and it shows in how I've gotten carried away with people I'm sexually attracted to and come thisclose to having a short-term affair, but then the Cancer part kicks in and puts the breaks on all of that. lol
How's that moon square venus aspect working for you? I must admit there are some aspects that I've read about and am scared of seeing in a date's chart. Moon square venus is one of them. My venus squares MC, too (by sign, for sure. not sure about if by aspect).
I agree that, in general, fire signs, Pisces and Libra fall in love quickly. For fun, which sign is least likely to fall in love?
I just realized I forgot to add Aquarius in my sign-by-sign analysis (Freudian omission? *mischievous chuckle*).
Aquarius - doesn't fall in love. Just kidding. lol Aquarians know they're in love when they wake up one day and realize they've been in a semi-committed relationship for years and think to themselves, "wow, funny how time flies when you're having fun."
@BlahBlah: I don't know if these are the effects of Moon square Venus-aspect, some other aspect-combos or just something unrelated to astrology, but like the aspect implies; it's an emotional battleground. This adds a lot of negative tension to all kinds of relationships, relations, bonds et cetera. From the mother to the lover, so to speak. Not to mention that I also have difficult social interaction.
Repression of feelings, avoiding people and attachement, turmoils because of bottled up and repressed feelings, unconscious sabotage of bonds. One of the uglier streaks is passive emotional abuse and manipulation. A lot of insecurities and fears associated with close relationships, fear of commitment, etc. Some very contradictory feelings often follow along, and it's straining. There's a deal of ambivalence.
Here's also an interesting bit mentioned on an astro-site regarding this aspect: "A withdrawal from relationship commitment could stem from a similar withdrawal of a parent from you during childhood. You may now unconsciously seek to punish a parent by rejecting others who try to get close to you."
Regardless of whether my problems are related to the aspect or not; this aspect is scary.
You seem pretty aware of your issues. Doesn't that make them easier to work on?
@BlahBlah: I'm indeed aware of those flaws of mine and I have acknowledged them, that's often the first step to uh, working on them. The problem is that I simply don't know where to begin, what to work on. I still experience and feel things through mist of ambivalence.
The repression of feelings is not something voluntary or controllable, social paranoia and attachementparanoia can be more or less balanceable, but still pretty absurd.
I don't think it matters at the moment though. Conflicts may resolve gradually, although they will require effort.
...But yes, it's definitely easier to work on issues, whatever they may be, when you acknowledge and see them.
blahblah said,
"Aries, Leo - falls in love with trophy material. Aries and Leos know they're in love when they find themselves bragging to everyone they know about their mate"
Aha, that explains it. This ol' Mars in Leo keeps luring in and being lured by those Mars-ruled fiery Aries and Leos. The minute it dawns on me that they think of me as simply some sort of prize or sex object I lose all respect for them and just play along.
Yes, I foolishly play with fire. And when you do that, you get burned.
Because once a girl falls for a guy, the deep rooted emotional attachment remains. Those second and third degree burns may heal but the scars remain.
There are ways to erase the scars but in reality, we fool ourselves by only covering them up. They're still there, just not visible on the surface. But deep below the layers of the epidermis the damage is evident and the scars remain.
And deep within the layers of the heart, the memories, like ghosts, wander the hallways of always in the windmills of your mind.
