Why are Scorpios so sexual?
Scorpio is ruled by Pluto. Mythologically, Pluto is the Roman counterpart of Hades, Lord of the Underworld. However, there is more to Pluto than textbook mythology. The astrological Pluto governs all that is hidden and taboo. Whatever society deems unacceptable gets shoved aside, either into the unconscious or the red light district or other disreputable parts of town. Sex, for better or worse, is taboo ... or at least most types of sexual activity. The Church only approves of sex within the context of procreation. Sex outside of marriage, sex between two people of the same gender, sex between minors, sex between a minor and an adult, sex between clergymen and ....
Words and deeds are, of course, two separate things, as we see. But nonetheless, many people in power want to suppress sexuality, unless it is sanctioned by the ChurchState.
Death
Pluto also rules death. Sex and death are intimately related. The French call the orgasm a "mini death." In sexual union, there is a death of the individual, when two beings dissolve their ego boundaries and become one emotional, spiritual unit. The act of procreation itself is essential for the survivial of the species. Without sex, our race will literally die. In addition, humans often feel the biological imperative to have their genes carried along future generations. There is an illusion of immortality when you know that, even when you physically die, a part of you is carried along by your children, and your children's children, and so on.
Archetype
Psychiatrist Stan Grof conducted LSD research and found that participants had different types of psychedelic experiences. He categorized them into BPMs, or Basic Perinatal Matrices, which he correlated with stages of the birth process. BPM III relates to the stage of contraction of the uterus. It is a life or death struggle for the fetus ... the most intense part of birth, no doubt. During BPM III LSD experiences, participants had inner experiences with the folowing themes: "titanic fight, sadomasochistic experiences, intense sexual arousal, demonic episodes, scatalogical involvement, and encounter with fire."
Sounds Scorpionic, huh? Philospher and astrologer Richard Tarnas, in tandem with Stan Grof, associates BPM III with the astrological Pluto. This archetype is deeply ingrained within the collective psyche. It appears to be greater than "culture."
Astrology
Scorpios are intimately familiar with the Plutonic realm. Sex may be a fight against death, an effort to die a little death, or a desire to overcome death. Either way, Scorpio's planetary rulership goes a long way to explain why this zodiac sign is so sexual.

Dominating in the bedroom would be my preoccupation.
Helping others climb up from the pit, making life easier in illness, and helping out in general while others are under duress are a few more.
All are equally gratifying.
I'm a double Scorpio and when I was younger I can say that I was very preoccupied with all things sexual. But something happened along the way and now I can pretty much take it or leave it. But then I have no man in my life so that may have something to do with it. I sure wish I could get my sexual energy back, sometime before I'm too old to enjoy it.

You're not any less Scorpionic if you're not feeling sexual, but perhaps you can find ways -- not dependent on a man -- to access your libidinal energy.
I was very sexual when I was very young, but as soon as puberty hit it seems I went the complete opposite. It makes sense to me, as Scorpio is also a sign of extremes, that the same energy that can make one over-sexed can make one ascetic. But now that I'm opening up that part of myself and exploring it with my partner, I'm beginning to experience that Scorpion sex/domination drive.
Pluto, the ruler of Scorpio, either intensifies or kills off (drives underground), so an absence of sexual energy for a Scorpio makes sense from this perspective.
I'm almost a Scorpio (29 degrees Libra Sun)and also 3 planets in the 8th HSE.,and Mercury, and Saturn in Scorpio.
My entire life was once all about sex.
So, do I count?

My sex drive has been missing for a while, which concerns me; but I believe this is a result of not being able to open up emotionally. I'm sun, moon, Mercury and Saturn in Scorp...every time I try to open up it feels like what I'm saying is a lie, and if I do manage to tap into it properly it brings up such intense and self-protective moods which push people away. I don't want to be like this but I'm really lost for answers.
It's a deeper perspective but it shows how much the Scorpio sex drive is related to the inherent trust hurdle of the sign.
It can hurt when people shy away from your intensity. If someone isn't receptive to you when you are authentic, how can you open up your sexual energy, the doorway to intimacy?
I have a Scorpio moon and like Michelle, I was also extremely preoccupied with all things sexual. I wanted to learn everything about sex, but my Cancer sun (and Virgo saturn?) appeased my Scorpio moon by learning about it second-hand - reading, watching, listening, etc.
Having a father who was very paranoid about me having sex at a young age made it his mission to keep me away from all males (his saturn is in Scorpio). To avoid dealing with his drama, I began to ignore any attraction for guys that I felt. I was a very late bloomer when it came to actually having sex because of all the stuff I'd learned about earlier, heard about from my father (and mother), and seen in my friends' lives.
Now, I just don't feel very sexual at all. Maybe it's the wrong partner...

I like to tickle my pluto moon by books and movies that are gothic romantic, horror(Anne Rice), secret societys and sex. I've been fascinated with sex since I hit puberty I would love to be dominate in the bedroom but have never been allowed. Autumn is my favorite season and then spring.

It was actually very healthy for me and am currently in the healthiest relationship both sexually and emotionally I have ever been in. It is true that Scorpio can lead a celibate existence for months and years at a time.
I have done it and seen other Scorpios do it. A couple of these are pretty hot Scorps, too, giving off very sexy vibes-- but they haven't exercised them in a while.
Scorpio needs to feel plugged in, really into someone, to fully get into sex. When the hottest appliance is unplugged, well, it's just cold.
Then again the cord could be severed, or the plug void of power. Nevertheless the energy is there somewhere, just in need of the right connection.

this is easy to answer for me. Sex is more then a physical act. It is a soulful act. It is the joining with another human being on a lvl so great it transends you into something new..and creates a bond with that person, as he has become a part of me. Needles to say, i dont give myeslf to many, but it is powerful and deep to those i do choose. and sometimes when you're waiting for someone to share that with, you can become alittle preoccupied. which is why it seems we're all about sex, but make no mistake..we are not easy, rarely promiscuious, and you better truly be ready before you roll with a scorpio.
My comments are not as intense and as engrossing as you Scorpios but I’m a Sagittarian and I’ve surprising been with my Scorpio for 4 years now…And this has been one of my best relationships I think I’ve experienced every single emotion since being with him which is healthy and some emotions which I never thought I had.. But I personally think Scorpios find most females attractive there easily turned on..
My moons in Capricorn which makes me hold back in the emotions department but sexually I’ve really been about to let myself go in the moment very exhilarating.

This falls under Questions That Have Plagued the Ancients, and I think the answer's somewhat akin to you can always tell it's water when it's wet. I have Sun and Venus in Scorp with < 2 degrees separating--and both in the 1st House. Virgo Moon in the 10th. You do the math.
Everybody has a story and I only speak for myself. But the awareness of sex is as natural and necessary as breathing; it's just part of the deal. How that awareness manifests, I think, varies according to person. For myself, it's taken a long time to gradually realize that what I need in sweet company hasn't always been what I've wanted; which, to be honest, has often been pretty indiscriminate.
With Venus in the 1st, I usually let the game come to me, and have rarely felt the need to pursue. But when that happens, I take to it like a trout to a fly--what with Mars and Merc in Sadge--also in the 1st house.
I have no words adequate to describe how deeply I appreciate people who value me for my intellect; the passion's usually so apparent that that's what makes the impression, and it's the sort of impression that's nearly impossible to undo; matters of the mind get moved toward the back. I adore the spark, the imagination, the wacky way they see the world, their whole zippity-babe vibe. And my heart is *always* moved by their peculiar loneliness in trying so hard to unite the Twins into the same skin. There's a poignancy at the heart of Gemini vulnerability that hits me like a block of kryptonite landing on Clark Kent. I get weak in the knees, dreamy-eyed, and--if the chemistry's there--walk around with a hard-on that would knock a goddamn door down.
There's incredible, indescribable growth potential in the Gemini-Scorpio match, and I dream of meeting a fine, fey girl who's as willing to meet me half-way as she is to run circles around my fixedness. I believe that our communication potential is off the charts, and that we can develop a common language that feels to us both like we invented the very words.
The problem that Scorp guys encounter on a daily basis is that we live in a world that places inordinate value on the mind, and way too little on the heart. I am a 5x scorpio and my life is consumed with thoughts of sex, and my career but its undescribable the feeling you get and the reasons i do it..its a spiritual almost out of body experience. I am very dominating, but enjoy being dominated too! I luv the idea of power and money. We can be rather awkward people and yes, I do find that my intensity in every subject scares most people away. Scorpios have an aura about them and the eyes are mystical and piercing. I have never met one that did'nt scare the crap outta me, and I guess that's because I know how I am and can be.
Maybe someone can answer this. Would a Scorpio Male have an afair with a married woman? I've read and heard that Scorpio's are loyal etc., but I'm a married woman and there is a guy who is very interested in me and he's a Scorpio. Does he only like me because I'm married and maybe considdered a challenge. We are best friends. I knew him long before I met my husband and he just told me how he feels about me. I don't want to lead him on, but I am confused why he chose to tell me his feelings now and not when I was single.
